The Primos Story
Primos Restaurant was started in September of 1929, as Primos Bakery at 236 East Capitol Street by Angelo “Pop” Primos and Mildred Primos.
As the depression years made changes in our economy, Primos changed to coffee and pastry service, then to sandwiches, then to a full service restaurant about 1935. In 1941 , Primos relocated to 244 East Capitol Street with modern air-conditioning and an electric eye door opener that captured Jackson’s imagination.
Again, as times changed, Primos changed and expanded in I 948, a second and a third location were opened at 1016 North State Street and at 415 North StateStreet.
In 1964, Northgate was opened as the South’s latest concept of fine dining with restaurants and private dining rooms in one complex that was not a hotel facility. Northgate also had a Deli specializing in bakery items.
Our success has continued to grow. We still serve people in Iackson area better than any other restaurant facility because we care. We want to be the best. We want our customers to always be satistied and anxious to return.
